BS 65000 is a revised British Standard that helps organizations understand what resilience means and provides the necessary guidance to help them build a more resilient future.
As the latest version, BS 65000:2022 is no longer just a guidance document, but a code of practice. It supplies updated terminology and approaches, and covers a wider scope of resilience across industries, sectors and organizational types and sizes.
BS 65000 provides guidance and recommendations on what constitutes organizational resilience, the defining attributes and the practical measures that should be considered or can be taken.
BS 65000 has been updated using recent academic and business thinking and will support organizations as they seek to strengthen their long-term resilience and responsible business agenda. It advances the concept of resilience by providing more detail on its principles and characteristics. Additionally:
BS 65000:2022 is a revision of BS 65000:2014. The major change in BS 65000:2022 is that the standard has become a code of practice so contains more recommendations and guidance than before. It also draws on recent and relevant academic evidence, business insights and new thinking to update the terminology and approach, and to recognize areas of good practice that have evolved since 2014.
BS 65000 contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth, Goal 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, Goal 11, on sustainable cities and communities, Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production and Goal 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions.
