Home » Core Tools Certification Training (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP)
The Core Tools Certification Training (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP) is a 5 day course covering all the core tools using a "learn by doing" teaching approach. After short teach points delegates practice the use of the tools using case studies and delegate exercises. Delegates passing the application exam at the end of the course receive certification from SMMT, the IATF approved oversight office in the UK.
5 days
IATF 16949:2016 mandates the use of automotive core tools including FMEA, SPC and MSA within the framework of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) or project management. While many companies attempt to implement the tools, many fail to reap the benefits of continual improvement, defect prevention and the reduction in variation and waste. This is often because of a lack of competence in the effective use of the tools and their interactions.
The full Core Tools Certification is achieved by completing all 5 modules of Core Tools Certification Training (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP) and upon successful completion of the exam. Modules can either be taken as consecutive days (which can be booked here) or individually. More information about the contents of each module and Industry Forum’s upcoming module dates can be found here:

Please note: The statistical techniques used during the Measurement Systems Analysis course are covered in detail in our 1-day Statistical Process Control (SPC) programme. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you attend our SPC course before attending an MSA course unless you are already familiar with the statistical tools used.
This course is designed for Management Representatives, Implementation Teams, Internal Auditors and others who are involved in the auditing or implementation of Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities including Controls Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and related Core Tools would be beneficial but not necessary.
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Control Plan• Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)• Statistical Process Control (SPC)• Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)• Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Delegates will become competent in understanding, implementing and auditing APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, MSA and SPC. Delegates will also gain the knowledge to develop the documentation required for the preparation of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
Delegates passing the written examinations will receive a Core Tools Certification Training (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP) Certificate underwritten by the UK IATF Oversight Office.
