Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Training

Production Part Approval Process, (PPAP), is a method of demonstrating a product or process is production ready. The method was developed by the North American Automotive Industry and is now widely used in many industrial sectors such as automotive, aerospace, renewable energy and mobile power generation.

PPAP is module five of the Core Tools Certification. This module can be completed as a standalone course or part of the full Core Tools Certification Training. The full Core Tools Certification is achieved by completing all 5 modules of Core Tools Certification Training (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP) and upon successful completion of the exam. Modules can either be taken as consecutive days (which can be booked here) or individually.

More information about the contents of each module and Industry Forum’s upcoming module dates can be found here:

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Training
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Training
Statistical Process Control (SPC) Training
Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) Training

Please note: The statistical techniques used during the Measurement Systems Analysis course are covered in detail in our 1-day Statistical Process Control (SPC) programme. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you attend our SPC course before attending an MSA course unless you are already familiar with the statistical tools used.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for Management Representatives, Implementation Teams, Internal Auditors and others who are involved in the auditing or implementation of the Production Part Approval Process. Familiarity with Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) and related Core Tools would be beneficial but not necessary.

Course Outline

  • Overview of the Production Part Approval Process
  • Detailed review of the required 18 elements for PPAP
  • PPAP Submission level
  • PPAP Disposition
  • PPAP records retention

Benefits and Learning Objectives

Production Part Approval Process is often mandated by automotive, aerospace and other engineering primary manufacturers as a specific requirement on their suppliers to give them assurance that the supplier understands the customers product specifications and that the suppliers manufacturing process has the potential to produce good quality product at agreed quality levels and production rates.

Companies that apply Production Part Approval Process as the culmination of Advanced Product Quality Planning, gain greater customer confidence in their ability to introduce new products and processes or make changes to existing products and processes.

Delegates will become competent in implementing and auditing PPAP and the creation of PPAP Submission packages and learn how it is an integral part of the APQP process.

Upon completion of the course you will receive an Industry Forum certificate of attendance.
