A operational leader is someone who sees how the individual elements of an organisation fit together and work to create the larger outcome.
The Senior Leadership Training is designed to give delegates the required skills and knowledge to increase operational performance at all levels of an organisation.
When Liberty Pressing Solutions acquired Cov Press, it was losing over £3 million a year and in catastrophic supply status, meaning it was unable to quote for new business. Historically, Cov Press had suffered what Liberty described as a serious lack of investment across all areas of the business, but particularly in the training of its employees, who were disengaged from the organisation.
Liberty Pressing has now turned around its fortunes by developing the Liberty Manufacturing Operating System (LMOS), which Industry Forum and its People Development Programme has been a fundamental element.
Find out how Industry Forum worked with Liberty Pressing Solutions to make a “big difference” and why the programme is the “most successful turnaround project” that Plant Director, Stephen Hemming has ever been involved in.
Not only that, but how the programme delivered net savings in the first 12 months totaling over £300,000.
The Senior Leadership Training is a 10 day course, aimed at anyone with responsibility for raising performance and achieving operational or business objectives through people. The course is a mixture of activities, debriefs, short presentations, and discussions to fully engage delegates, to ensure maximum participation and learning. Delegate’s existing strengths are built upon , whilst their areas of development addressed. The Senior Leadership Training is for those who are at the frontline and those who hold leadership roles on an operational level,– those who need to make things happen. The course has been developed in response to discussions with a wide range of senior leaders – to meet the leadership and other development needs that they believe are lacking, yet essential to tackle the challenges their organisations face.
The course can also be tailored and run for your own organisation.
The 10 day Senior Leadership Training is designed for those leading operational teams. It is ideal for those who are about to start in this role or who are in role but need training to develop their capability.
Upon completion of the course you will receive an Industry Forum Senior Leadership Training Certificate. The course also provides an opportunity for delegates to go on and acquire a nationally recognised qualification with a further work-based project.
The aim of the course is to give delegates the skills, knowledge and attitude change, to help them raise operational performance through improved leadership & teamwork.
Develop leadership skills. The course will help delegates to develop their own style of leadership to suit their personality, the needs of the people they are leading, the differing situations they find themselves in, and also meet the needs of their organisation. to the aim of the course is to develop leaders who have a range of tools, techniques and styles, with the wisdom to act appropriately in different situations. Delegates will have opportunities to practice being a group leader, and as well as experience other delegates’ leadership styles. We will review some classic and recent leadership theories, and lead discussions and activity debriefs on how these theories and ideas relate to the real world of work.
Improve self-awareness and effectiveness. It is increasingly accepted that a leader has to be capable of understanding and leading themselves before being able to lead others. The course will help to raise delegate’s self-awareness and awareness of others, to understand their own personality and how their resulting behaviour impacts on others. It will highlight that self-regulation & the ability to influence others are the bedrock of successful leadership. How to raise their own and others’ performance, by simple attitude and perspective changes. The course includes use of PRISM©, Emotional Intelligence, and Peer Feedback, to help highlight delegate’s own leadership strengths and development areas.
High Performance Teams. The course will show delegates how easy it can be to build high performance teams in a short space of time. They will experience what it’s like to be in such a team, and how effectively high performance teams can deal with difficult and complex problems. Delegates often feel the disappointment and failure of a low performing team early in the course, and the excitement, buzz and success of a high performing team by the end of it. The leadership challenge for everyone is how to transfer this learning back to their own teams at work –Industry Forum will offer guidance.
Communication skills. All leaders need excellent communication skills in order to connect and build rapport with their people, in order to assess situations and successfully get their message across. The simple concept of seeing things from the other person’s perspective is surprisingly lacking in many real life situations. This links in closely with the improved self-awareness and awareness of others from the PRISM session.
Problem-solving & decision-making. Delegates will be shown and given the opportunity to practice techniques covering innovation, problem-solving and decision-making in a range of situations, complexity and pressure levels. We will look at some outline theories and models. Delegates will learn that previous experience can help in solving problems, but can paradoxically be a hindrance in new and increasingly complex situations. We will carry out some lateral thinking & perceptual shift exercises to demonstrate how changes in mind set to problem-solving can help solve what appears to be impossible. We will also look at why blame cultures exist, and why resistance to sensible change still takes place.
Links would be made throughout the course to the real world of work, as a reminder to delegates of the challenges that still await them when they return to work at the end of the course and encourage them to tackle these challenges with more confidence, knowledge and skill.
