AIAG/VDA Combined FMEA Practitioner Training
The joint publication is the collaboration between AIAG/VDA, OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. The text has been completely rewritten, and the FMEA method has been revised in a few key areas.
The intent is to provide a common foundation for FMEA across the breadth of the automotive industry. While every effort has been made to reach a consensus, it may be necessary to refer to the individual publications or Customer Specific Requirements.
The FMEA method is used to address the technical aspect of risk reduction. FMEA is a team-orientated, systematic, qualitative method intended to:
Evaluate the potential technical risk of failure of the product or process;
The FMEA is used for analysing the technical risk to reduce failures and improve safety in the product and the process.
It is important to note, the new combined AIAG/VDA FMEA manual is not currently mandated by any OEMs or the IATF, so does not change the current approach used by many organisations.
AIAG & VDA Process FMEA: Transitioning for Practitioners is designed to take delegates through the 7 Step Approach to the construction, scoring and evaluation of risk (high, medium, low) and explain how to fully implement the new AIAG/VDA approach.
This course is designed for Management Representatives, Implementation Teams,Internal Auditors, Product and Process Engineers, NPI teams and others who are involved in the implementation or auditing of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. It is not a requirement to have an understanding of AIAG FMEA 4th edition.
FMEA is used to support the introduction of new products and processes, as well as support changes to existing products and processes.
It is often mandated by automotive, aerospace and other engineering primary manufacturers, as a specific requirement to support the goal of defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste.
Companies that apply FMEA successfully see improved product conformity, better on-time delivery performance and a reduction in the cost of non-quality.
Delegates will gain an understanding of the new step by step approach to FMEA and the changes between the current and new approaches to FMEA, including the new combined approach to creation, scoring and risk evaluation and resulting documentation and learn howto create and fully implement the approach.
